Will Reduce Waste at the Company's Bellingham Facility to 98% Waste Free Status

February 17, 2006 — Bellingham, WA — Ryzex today announced that it has launched the third phase of its internal recycling program as part of an effort to bring the company's corporate location to 100 percent "waste free". The third phase of the recycling effort, dubbed FoodPlus allows employees to recycle everything from paper towels to leftover lunch.

Ryzex statistics show that the Company's largest facility is nearly 98% of the way to their goal of being 100% waste free. Ryzex plans to replicate the program in each of their remote locations in 2006, as well as offer clients a full range of recycling services.

"Ryzex was largely created because of a passion for keeping e-waste out of landfills," said Rud Browne, Ryzex Founder and CEO. "Throughout our 16 years in business, we have been conscious of recycling and our environmental responsibility, but we felt that now was the time to take that to another level. It was our feeling that you have a moral obligation to practice what you preach, so we made a commitment to starting this program at home."

The company had recycled in the past, but in August 2005 the company began an aggressive program recycling everything from steel, to copper wire, to cardboard, to bubble wrap, and tracking the results. As part of the program, Ryzex has trained every employee on proper disposal techniques and provides frequent updates to Team Members about the progress. In a little more than three months, Ryzex estimates that the Bellingham location saved approximately 140,000 pounds of waste from landfills.

"This effort is something that every business should strive to do," said Browne. "Once we made the decision to target "zero waste" at our Bellingham location it proved surprisingly easy to make improvements almost overnight. The hardest part is proving to be the last few percent but it's entirely worth the effort. And it makes it a whole lot easier to achieve when you have the commitment of the entire organization as we do. Sooner or later, it'll be the only way to do business."
